Rules & Regulations

Each day Admission will be $5.00, Children Under 12 Free. Weekend Pass (Friday through Sunday) available for $15.

  1. A $3.00 membership must be paid in order to show exhibits in adult division.

  2. No charge for juniors up to and including 14 years of age, showing in the junior division.

  3. Children 15 years or older must show in adult division and pay $3.00 membership.

  4. Next years membership fee will be retained from all exhibitors winning $3.00 or more in prize money.

  5. Every article, product and cattle entered must be the actual bonafide property of, and/or grown, and/or be made by the person entering.

  6. Each exhibitor shall be responsible for taking and picking up their own exhibits.

  7. A list of entries must be in the hands of the secretary no later than 3 days before the Fair. Entry lists may be mailed or given to the secretary 2-3 weeks in advance of the Fair. They are received with appreciation, so please try to get them in early.

  8. Each exhibit must be properly entered with the secretary and have the entry tag attached to it, otherwise no prize will be allowed.

  9. Not more than one article or specimen will be allowed by each exhibitor in any class or section of a class. This is to apply to all kinds of exhibits as enumerated under classes 10 to 21 inclusive.

  10. All entries in classes 10 to 19 can be entered Thursday 4:00pm to 9:00pm or Friday 8:00am to 11:00am.

  11. Junior Division entries (Class 21) can be entered on Thursday 4:00pm to 9:00pm or Friday 8:00am to 10:30am. Judging in the Junior Division begins at 10:30am.

  12. A special prize no longer requires an extra exhibit, unless otherwise stated.

  13. All exhibits must remain in place on the grounds until 4:30pm on the last day of the Fair. Any person violating this rule will forfeit all monies awarded.

  14. The Directors and Judges shall have authority to refuse awards to entries made in the wrong class or deemed unsuitable for a prize, but reasons should be written on the back of the entry tag.

  15. All animals of all kinds on the exhibiting grounds during the Fair must be secured by chains, ropes or some kind of safe enclosure. All animals not under sufficient control shall be ordered confined until the end of the exhibition.

  16. Herd sire must be one year or older.

  17. All stallions must be shown by persons 18 years or older.

  18. No person or persons shall be allowed near the judges while in the performance of their duties, other than the Director in charge.

  19. The Bruce Mines Agricultural Society will not be responsible for any article of any kind or nature that may be lost or destroyed or in any way injured. Neither will the Directors be responsible for accidents of animals or property or persons on the grounds.

  20. Any exhibitor or attendant who is guilty of creating a disturbance whether by openly criticizing the judge or using obscene language to any judge or officer shall forfeit the right to any premiums and may be suspended by the society from exhibiting.

  21. All protests must be made to the secretary in writing before 5:00pm on the last day of the Fair and must be accompanied by a sum of $10.00, which becomes the property of the society if the protest is not sustained. The article or articles must remain until the protest is decided upon.

  22. No special attractions allowed unless arrangements for any such have been entered into with officers of the society.

  23. Automobiles and all other motor vehicles will be allowed to enter into the Fairgrounds free of charge but must park where directed.

  24. Prizes will be paid the first Friday in October at presentation night, to be held at the Bruce Station Hall. Should, however, the funds of the society be insufficient to pay the full amount of prizes awarded, then a reasonable percentage will be deducted from the total prize monies awarded to cover the deficiency. This latter clause in this regulation should only apply in case of absolute financial necessity.

  25. All prizes are paid by cheque and all cheques are REQUESTED TO BE CASHED at the Bank BEFORE November 30th of the same year. Special prizes must be called for before the end of the year or the exhibitor will forfeit the right to such prize.

  26. If a mistake is found in statement return all papers and cheque to the secretary at once to be corrected.

  27. Accumulation of points:

    1st - 4 points,
    2nd - 3 points,
    3rd - 2 points,
    4th - 1 point.

    In the event of a tie in points, the greatest number of 1st points will decide the winner.

  28. All horse trailers and campers must be parked in designated areas.
